The idea is to build text-based only virtual character, which responds to the guest through the Face Mesh model. The major content of this web page will be the description of this project. Based on how long the viewer stays on the page(track the eye through Face Mesh), there will be different popup messages and web alerts. Ideally, for the messages’ content, I want it to mimic the dialog when an individual is interested in another and trying to get attention from the viewer. Although, I am not sure if I want the viewer to have the reply function or not. I will use chat GPT to generate the messages. Conversations will be screened to ensure the exclusion of sensitive content and a relatively friendly environment. At one point I do want to guide the audience’s attention on the popup messages rather than stay on the main description.
Other than that, to add on more texture for the piece, I would imagine this character at certain degree is demanding for attentions.
This is not a project which has a strong positive or negative approach to Machine learning. This one-way romance is just a metaphor for the relationship between the user and the intelligent assistant.
What keeps the user engaged and how does the user know when the work is “over” or “complete” or when does the user know they can leave?
To keep them engaged the website itself need to have content. It could be a website introducing this final. Reading the writing keeps the user on the website. Also, popup messages require interaction to remove them.
Based on the demanding characteristic, when it is too overwhelming and the popup messages cover the whole page. So maybe when there are around 20 text messages, then pop up an image that shows the trail of the user’s mouse position? The function that exposes viewers’ actions. (Not sure about that) Or at some point, the website just stops functioning.
How is the user characterized / who is the user / what does the user play?
Who is interested in this project and knows this is a web art project before interacting with it. The user plays with the notification(popup messages). They are people who are used to reading, cuz I want to restrict the usage of images this time and challenge myself.
